PYRENEES ESCAPADE ONCE AGAIN SHOWCASES THE DELIGHTS OF THE REGION
Food and wine lovers from across the state flocked to the third annual Pyrenees Escapade on the weekend to sample the delights of the region.
More than 200 visitors enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of local wineries and producers at the Avoca Shire Turf Club Function Centre as they tasted their way around the numerous stalls.
The highlight of this year’s event was an old and rare wine auction which saw some of the region’s most unique drops go under the hammer.
“The addition of the wine auction this year was a great success,” President David Robson said.
“The bidding was very competitive with a number of patrons prepared to spend big to get their hands on some of our finest and most sought after wines.”
Event Manager, Kate Kirkpatrick said “local wineries were happy with the quality of people attending and buying, and feedback from visitors was very positive”.
“A jazz band entertained the crowd throughout the day, and children and adults alike were delighted with the antics of performer Eric the Red,” she said.
“Aside from showcasing our great range of wines, the Pyrenees Escapade is also a great promotion for the whole Pyrenees region and we were delighted to see so many visitors enjoying our produce and hospitality.”
The Pyrenees Escapade is sponsored by the Pyrenees Grapegrowers and Winemakers Association, Pyrenees Shire Council, Tourism Victoria, Avoca Community Bank and the State Government of Victoria
